Student Expo Travel Grants
Purpose
of the Travel Grants
The SEG Student Expo Travel Grant program offers travel grants to
students who are members of SEG and/or AAPG to help with their personal
expenses in attending the AAPG/SEG Student Expo in Houston.
Required
Applicant Eligibility
1. The applicant must have been a student member of SEG or AAPG
for at least one year.
2. The applicant must be pursuing a degree in geosciences.
3. The applicant must have above average grades.
Ranked
Applicant Eligibility Criterion
The following eligibility criterion will improve an applicant's
rankings:
1. Applicants who are pursuing a graduate degree in geosciences.
2. Applicants who are members of an SEG or AAPG Student Chapter.
3. Applicants who are or have been an officer of an SEG or AAPG
Student Chapter.
4. Applicants who are planning on presenting a poster at the AAPG/SEG
Student Expo by submitting an abstract with the travel grant application.

Documentation
Applicants submitting their application must provide the following:
1. Recommendation letter in support of your application from your
Faculty Advisor or a professor with whom you are academically acquainted.
2. Most recent semester grades or academic report (transcript).

Awards
The maximum award for 2010 will be $500. Awards will primarily be
utilized to cover the cost of accommodations and airfare. The committee
may determine that a larger award is necessary based on travel expenses.
In most cases, the cost of accommodations and airfare will be paid
directly to the provider. It is anticipated that a maximum of 5
grants will be awarded.
